Dr. Antony Nguyen

Dr. Antony Nguyen was born in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, as the oldest child in the family. He has two younger brothers and one younger sister. After moving to Houston, Dr. Nguyen attended Klein Forest High School in Houston, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.
Prior to his medical optometry training at the University Eye Institute, Dr. Nguyen earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston, where he was also involved in the community by volunteering with Prevent Blindness and Texas Children's Hospital. During his professional training, Dr. Nguyen remained active in school and community activities that include serving as the vision screening chair of SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), and as chair of the Optometry Day Student Panel, which promotes awareness in the optometric profession to high school and college undergraduates. Dr. Nguyen was also a vision science summer instructor for two years in TEXOCOP (Texas Optometry Career Opportunities Program). This program serves economically disadvantaged students and/or minority students a program in which he was also a former student while earning the distinction of 'Most Energetic Student',and 'Most Outstanding Student' in the course of Human Anatomy. He also dedicated his time to his fellow classmates by serving as an optics lab tutor and contacts lens lab assistant.
Aside from academia, Dr. Nguyen was part of his optometry class' winning intramural football team, 'Fighting Iris', which was then sponsored to participate in state-wide competition. And prior to earning his degree, Dr. Nguyen was a recipient of the Texas State Optical Scholarship.
Dr. Nguyen also spent time training at the San Diego Naval Medical Center serving military personnel and their families, and at Houston Eye Associates with distinguished eye doctors with specific eye specialties. And before receiving his degree as a Doctor of Optometry and as a Glaucoma Specialist, he delivered patient care at the San Jose Clinic, which serves homeless and indigent individuals.

Dr. Nguyen has extensive training in the fields of glaucoma, LASIK co-management, cataract surgery co-management, eye diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision, binocular vision, and pediatric vision.

Dr. Nguyen speaks fluent English and Vietnamese, and basic Spanish. His hobbies include traveling, fishing, working out, running and reading. Outside of his hobbies, he likes to spend quality time with his family and friends. He remains active in local, state, and national optometric associations and plans to get his optometry fellowship in the near future.


Dr. Cuong Tran

Dr. Cuong V. Tran is a Texas board certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He specializes in contact lenses and detection and treatment of eye infections and diseases such as conjunctivitis, glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Dr. Tran is a graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he was recognized with Clinical Letter of Excellence and Dean's Academic Lists. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Houston. Prior to his optometric training, Dr. Tran obtained valuable experience as an optometric assistant and optician for four years. During his diverse optometric education, Dr. Tran received extensive training in the fields of LASIK co-management, cataract surgery co-management, eye diseases, neuro-ophthalmology, contact lenses, low vision, binocular vision, and pediatrics.

Dr. Tran's language skills include fluent English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and basic Spanish for eye exams. His Grand Rounds paper was selected for publication in the 2003 Institute of Optometric Practice journal. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. He is also a member of the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens and Cornea Section for the past two years. His hobbies include basketball, tennis, movies, and spending valuable time with family.
